Clear Creek Passage Program
Three barrier culverts occur in Clear Creek, within in the Chiwawa River Catagory 1 watershed, that are partial or complete passage barriers to juvenile and adult ESA listed Upper Columbia summer steelhead (WFDW 2005). Up to 30 steelhead redds a year have been found below culvert #1 located on private land (Personal Communication, Cameron Thomas 2006). By replacing the fish barrier culverts with modular steel bridges in Clear Creek will provide approximately 2.7 additional linear mile of stream habitat. Clear Creek culverts #1, #2 and #3 were given a "high" priority for replacement by the Upper Columbia Regional Technical Team ( UCRTT 2006). In addition, Beaver Creek culverts are included in the Salmon Recovery Plan Implementation Schedule for construction in years 1-3 (UCSRB 2006).
