    Project Description
This application seeks additional funding for the optioned timber rights over the remaining 340 acres of the Paradise Valley Conservation Area. Snohomish County was successful in the Early 2000 SRFB funding round for the timber rights on 324 acres. This current project request of $250,000 would enable the County to come closer to the $1.1 million needed to purchase the optioned rights.

The Cascade Land Conservancy, in partnership with Snohomish County, has completed the negotiations for the purchase of the total 664 undeveloped, forested acres in the headwaters of Bear Creek. (The purchase will be finalized in November, 2000.) The property owners have agreed to donate approximately $1,321,000 in land and timber rights, and a 3-year option on the $1.1 million dollars of timber value for a portion of the property outlined on the attached map. The property is a regionally significant resource area and provides habitat for Chinook, Coho, Steelhead, Kokanee, and Sockeye salmonid species.
